THE DECEASED PERSONS (PAYMENT OF SALARIES AND PENSIONS) ACT

1   Short title

   This Act may be cited as the Deceased Persons (Payment of Salaries and Pensions) Act.

2   Accountant General may pay sum due for salary or pension

   (1) Subject to subsection (2), on the death of any person to whom any salary, pension, gratuity or other allowance is payable, the Accountant-General may pay or authorise the payment of, to such person or persons as the Accountant-General may consider entitled thereto, a sum not exceeding-

   (a)   fifteen thousand dollars; or

   (b)   a sum not exceeding one month's salary and allowances, if any, to which the deceased was entitled at the time of his death; or

   (c)   one month's pension to which the deceased was entitled at the time of his death,

whichever is the greater.

   (2) In making any payment under subsection (1), the Accountant-General shall satisfy himself of the expediency in such case of dispensing with the production of letters testamentary or letters of administration.
