THE PAROCHIAL ELECTIONS (MODIFICATION) ACT

[Date of Commencement: 15th November, 1979]

Act 30 of 1979.

1   Short title

   This Act may be cited as the Parochial Elections (Modification) Act.

2   Duration of this Act

   This Act shall continue in force until the expiry of the Representation of the People (Interim Electoral Reform) Act, and shall then expire.

3   Application of certain provisions the Interim Electoral Reform Act

   During the continuance in force of this Act the provisions of sections 2(2), 5, 6, 7, 10 and 12 of the Representation of the People (Interim Electoral Reform) Act, shall have effect with regard to elections pursuant to the provisions of the Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation Act and the Parish Councils Act respectively (hereinafter referred to as the Parochial Acts) as they have effect with regard to elections pursuant to the Representation of the People Act, and accordingly-

   (a)   any reference to the Chief Electoral Officer in either of the Parochial Acts shall be deemed to be a reference to the Director of Elections; and
