1   Short title

   This Act may be cited as the Pensions (Parochial Officers) Act.

2   Application to Kingston and St Andrew Corporation and Parish Councils

   (1) This Act shall apply to the Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation and in its application it shall be read as one with the Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation Act.

   (2) This Act shall apply to the Parish Councils in this Island and in its application it shall be read as one with the Parish Councils Act.

3   Interpretation

   (1) In this Act-

   "Parish Council" includes, in the application of this Act to the Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation, the Council of the Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation;

   "pensionable office" means-

   (a)   in respect of parochial service, an office for which separate provision is made in the Annual Estimates of a Parish Council and which has been declared, by a resolution of such Council with the approval of the Minister responsible for the public service, by a notification published in the Gazette to be pensionable, and any such notification may from time to time be amended, added to, or revoked, by another notification so made and published; but where by virtue of any such amendment or revocation any office ceases to be a pensionable office, then, so long as any person holding that office at the time of the amendment or revocation continues therein, the office shall as respects that person, continue to be a pensionable office;

   (b)   in respect of public service, an office which is for the time being a pensionable office under the law or regulations in force in such service;

   "non-pensionable office" means-:

   (a)   in respect of parochial service, an office for which separate provision is made in the Annual Estimates of a Parish Council and which has been declared, by a resolution of such Council with the approval of the Minister responsible for the public service, by a notification published in the Gazette to be a non-pensionable office for the purposes of this Act; and any such notification may from time to time be amended, added to, or revoked, by another notification so made and published; but where by virtue of any such amendment or revocation any office ceases to be a non-pensionable office but does not become a pensionable office then, so long as any person holding that office at the time of the amendment or revocation continues therein, the office shall as respects that person continue to be a non-pensionable office;
